@LilWayneGrace Nadal made the semis of masters tournaments, okay. Roger, coming off a lung infection, lost early – okay. (no one calls him a “fighter” for playing after that illness, though they say that for Nadal &his knees.) you are still forgetting something. who won the first major of the year, dropping only two sets along the way?! if I may- DON’T write Federer off, & wait until a match has been played on clay to declare the winner of the surface’s slam. same mistakes made from years past.

They both played great but I guess Nadal was better at the time. Everyone has their ups and downs. Federer went and won RG so congrads for him. :) … Although I am a huge fan of Nadal, I have loads of respect for Federer, and I think everyone does. Federer is the greatest player of all time, and don’t worry, Nadal will catch up soon if he stays healthy and fit :) Both are awesome players.

@poombamaniac very true, so why you saying his back was injured when he was clearly moving well? Want to talk about back injured, talk about a 35 year old andre agassi getting cortison shots, don’t make an excuse for federer to justify him getting beaten by a better player. His back was hurting, right……His back was hurting so much that he was down 2-0 in sets and came back to make it a 5 setter, LMAO, you do realise how ridiculous you sound?!? It’s very simple, Rafa is better..

  8. poombamaniac dice:

@mousavsm Yes, of course, being unable to move is the only time you’re properly injured. And yes, of course, a guy who won 2 slams off clay, never defended a non-clay title and never even made it into US Open Final is better than a man with 16 Grand Slams and soon to be record holder for most weeks at No. 1, considering 10 of those Slams and 150 or so of those weeks came after Nadal became No.2 in the world. Fed was never 0-2 in that AO final, BTW. Get your facts and your head straight.

  9. poombamaniac dice:

@mousavsm BTW, u r an idiot for another reason – I said that Fed’s injury DOESN’T matter. So go learn to read before you write anything.

Nasal sucks and is a retard. And he obviously is not better then Roger Federer. Get over it.

    Nadal*

@mousavsm Have you ever heard of playing through pain? Any athelete will tell u they are never 100% but aren’t in enough pain to stop playing. I’m a RF fan & I can admit Nadal won, but that doesn’t mean injuries only exist 4 the winner when they win a match & are only excuses when they lose a match, Fed was subject to compulsory military service in the Swiss Armed Forces. In 2003 he was deemed unfit due to a long-standing back problem & was subsequently not required to fulfill his obligations.

  14. mousavsm dice:

@rachray83 Yea and you don’t think him being the best tennis player at the time had anything to do with that decision? Back problems? He only gained the number ranking last year because Rafa was injured, maybe we shouldn’t forget this….And Rafa was so injured that he SKIPPED his WIMBLEDON defence, that’s real pain. All the other pain that players play through, well, as you said, they are all in some sort of pain so why bother mentioning it like he did? He looked fine on the court, my point

  15. mousavsm dice:

@rachray83 I believe he was in some pain, no doubt. But Berdych would have beat him no matter and will continue to beat him in the future should they face. He has a bigger game than Federer and Federer is too defensive with his returns sometimes, and these guys are good enough to put away those slice returns to the middle of the court that Federer does so often. Federer is still a great player but his ranking is appropriate, he hasn’t done well in many tourneys other than majors, go look..

  16. mousavsm dice:

@poombamaniac Very true, and if you look at how physically exerting this match was on both opponents it’s kind of hard to believe that Federer was injured in some really painful way. How was his road to the final? Probably mostly straight sets, so his back was fine then, just not vs Rafa, you know why, because Rafa tends to do that to his opponents :) . Interestingly, most of the Fed fans say how Rafa runs a lot, maybe they should look at what he does to his opponents…

  17. mousavsm dice:

@poombamaniac Hmm, maybe you should not be so narrow minded. Nadal has beaten Federer the last 3 french open finals, their last wimbledon final and their last australian open final. Hmmm, that’s 3 different surfaces and the same result, Rafa winning and Roger losing. Maybe you should get your head checked, Rafa has reached 7 (maybe soon to be 8 slams) faster than Federer did, and this was during Federer’s reign at world number 1. Oh yea, and already more tennis 1000 titles, 5 years younger!

  18. poombamaniac dice:

@mousavsm yes, I agree with you, Nadal is a horrible matchup for Roger. Now what? Tennis is about winning tournaments, not beating Roger Federer, and about not losing to Murray/Del Potro/Soderling in Slams. Once he has like 3-4 wimbledons and about 4 majors off clay, we can talk.

  19. mousavsm dice:

    @LilWayneGrace Without a doubt.

  20. mousavsm dice:

@poombamaniac You have to look at this globally. He’s beating EVERYONE right now. You can say clay this clay that, fact remains, he still has to beat his opponents. He beat Soderling handily at the french and wimbledon. He beat murray handily in his own backyard. He beat berdych handily when berdych beat everyone else (fed, djokovic) handily. Rafa is unequivocally the number 1 player in the world right now. Not just vs Federer, vs everyone.

  21. aleztfu dice:

@mousavsm That’s very true, we say Rafa has erached the top of his game, however what you have to admit is that although he is in magnificent shape Soderling and Berdych weren’t challenges up to him, I mean, both of them freaked out and gave very poor presentations, nothing compared to what they did to defeat Roger Federer… He is the only one who has defeated nadal 2 times in clay. The only one to defeat him in a GS final… give him some credit…

  22. mousavsm dice:

@aleztfu Soderling started the match up 5-0 if I’m not mistaken. The reason Soderling and Berdych weren’t factors vs him was due to his ability to take over the match. I watched all his matches at Wimbledon and he has an extra gear when he needs it. He used it vs Soderling, then he used it vs Berdych. Better players have a way of negating their opponents advantages or strengths. Right now, Nadal is doing it better than anyone.

  23. mousavsm dice:

@hi1tman You can use “if only” with Roger a lot vs Nadal. Fact of the matter is, the only question that really matters is, IF ONLY ROGER WAS BETTER THAN NADAL he may have won this or that. That’s a big if only, especially now.

  24. aleztfu dice:

@mousavsm I’m talking about FO final against Soderling…

  25. cj397 dice:

@mousavsm federer is a much more complete player, well actually no, nadal’s improved his transition to net and volley game GREATLY, but still, watch federers play from 2004-2010 and you’ll see why he’s such an amazing player. don’t be blinded just by big muscles, fist pumps, and a lot of running and moonballing.
